Together Walt and I had some wonderful adventures in Alaska, and a few equally memorable misadventures.
Walt's determination and desire for outdoor adventure was inspiring. Walt was a good friend, and an excellent hunting partner. I miss him.
Dear Neelam and Family,
We were so very saddened at Walter's death. What good friends we became after he built an amazing addition on to our home. He was a craftsman, a gentleman and a wonderful friend.
Our hearts go out to you and the family. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure to know Walt these last few years when he traveled to Alaska. He was an outstanding person to hang around with in moose camp and he also taught me a few things about carpentry in my work shop. He was definitely a "salt of the earth" sort of fellow and will be missed. RIP Walt.
Walter and I shared a house with two other famine responders in Bihar, India in 1967. I returned to my regular Care assignment and got on with my life. Walker, and just a few others, made such a wonderful impression on me that, although we had lost contact, I vividly remembered him thought the years. What an amazing person! May God bring him peace eternal and grant his loved ones comfort in their loss.
The world is obviously a better place because he passed our way. Walter helped CARE and the Peace Corps make a difference in the lives of countless deserving people in Turkey, India and Nigeria. Deepest sympathies to loved ones and friends.
I had the opportunity to work with Walter Salmen during 1966/67 in Bihar, India, he was my colleague from CARE USA in India. My heartfelt condolences to his wife Neelam and children

So sorry to hear about Walter, our prayers are with you and your family.
I have known Walter since 1977. He was a close and dear friend. He and Neelam were very supportive to me during a very difficult period in my own life. Walt was my Best Man when I was married in 1983. His memory will always be very special to both my wife, Sandy and myself. We sincerely miss him.
Sincere condolences to the Salmen family. Walter and I were roommates in CARE training in the fall of 1965. A good man lost to us all.
A truly unique and talented friend has passed. We worked together in Turkey. He was intensely involved in the work, cared deeply about the Turkish people, was a great friend, and handsome to boot. People like him don't come along every day. We'll miss him.
My heart goes out to you for your deep loss you must be feeling for your beloved Walter. How sad to lose someone so loved and so needed. May you find comfort in prayer and in one another. (Jeremiah 29:12,13)
We are very sorry for your loss.
I worked as a sub-contractor with Walter on several projects. He was great to work with and will be missed
