Marcus was my cousin. I remember growing up and coming to his house and spend the weekend over.We played video games, watched Saturday morning cartoons, the fun activities as kids. It's been well over a decade since I've seen him in person, since my 3rd grade year of elementary to be exact, and I am now in my 4th year of college. It was not until March of last year was the first time we connected on facebook for the first time in those many years. I messaged him every now and than to keep updated. And that was when I saw on my news feed of the news. I couldn't believe it. I didn't even have the chance to see him up until recent. It was very disheartening to say the least. I miss you Marcus. Wish I had the chance the change something or at least say one last goodbye. I just hope things are better for you now. Sending the utmost best from me and the family.

I met and worked with Marcus at Chili's. He did always have a smile and a laugh and opinion about things. I can't stop crying when I see his picture. I am so sorry he is gone. My heart hurts. Love to his family. He is missed.

When I was a freshman in high school, at some point in the first couple weeks, during Algebra Marcus and I got detention slips. I was such a nerd that I was trying to be cool and not ask where the ice room was, I ended up following Marcus to his locker on accident. He turned around and just smiled at me, made me feel like I wasn't such an idiot, made me feel comfortable and made me laugh at a point in time when all I wanted to do was cry. Throughout the rest of our high school years together Marcus always had a smile or a few words, maybe a high five or a hug whenever I turned a random corner needed them. He was an outstanding person and I am so glad I got the oppurtunity to cross paths with him. There will be a void in the world without his warmth and brightness to fill it, may his light live on in our hearts and memories.

I just heard today man... I can't even imagine. Not many people have the same light you do, and it will be sorely missed from this quiet valley. I hope you keep that smile and positive outlook wherever the stars take you.
