Pat Alto is, and will always be the person after whom I model myself. While there are many teachers who inspire and connect with students, I live and breathe to be as good as she was in her time. From start to finish, Pat was a mom and a care-taker, a saint and a steward. She had high standards, but never gave up on the ones who took longer to meet them. Sometimes, when I feel down in spirit, I ask myself how I'm going to be like Pat Alto today. It's a mantra that has made me love my students more--regardless of their faults. In the end,I only hope to have served people as well as my beautiful friend Pat did. Pat, your print is on all of us. We carry you on a daily tribute. Do not fear that your heart continues to influence the world, as it will AT LEAST until the day I die. You are forever. I love you Pat Alto. KM

Not only was Pat a great mother and teacher, she was a great example of proper parenting to me. We had several talks about "hypothetical situations" and what a great help she was... She will be missed by more people than you will ever know...

At my high school graduation in 1992, I got the privilege of presenting Mrs. Alto with an honored teacher award on behalf of our class. I talked about seeing her smiling face at so many of our cross-country meets. She was a strong and lovely presence in Ukiah.

May the God of tender mercy (Psalms 83:18) grant the family peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.
