Sid was the 3rd Peace Corps physician for Turkey in the mid 1960s; I was the 2nd, and Chris Hanson (deceased) was the first; Chris and Sid both brought small children to Turkey, making the experience even more demanding. Ginny was and has been such a huge help to him. Oh, but did we all have fun! Sid volunteered as a pediatric nephrologist at Hacateppe Medical Center in Ankara and introduced renal biopsy to that part of the world. A somewhat frightening procedure that he, but not many others mastered.
He was a superb physician, husband, father, and friend. A wonderful large, straight up guy who always told it like it was, usually sprinkled with humor. Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic were always major parts of his life.
He gave me direction, and many, many treasured moments. Connie and I will miss him.
