PORTSMOUTH - The Moser daughters are saddened to announce the death of their beautiful mother, Christine Moser. Christine passed away at her home in Portsmouth, on May 31, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Christine was stunningly beautiful, athletic, hilarious, articulate and steadfast in her devotion to her daughters, her family, her friends and to life itself.
Christine was born the third daughter of eight children to Dan and Doris (Herrmann) Downey in West Palm Beach, Fla.
She was the prettiest, spunkiest, and funniest of those children. She was also the tiniest, which made her the most fearless.
Christine was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Fla. where she met her future husband, Tom Moser, who was the inspiration to her athletic achievement. Christine was hard to keep up with. Always a physical fitness enthusiast, she challenged her family and friends to play tennis, hike, run, swim and bike, and always outdid everybody. She particularly embraced cycling after her husband's death and biked all over the world. In testimony to her unflagging resolve and strength, Christine was biking up until a few days before she died.
After Cardinal Newman High School, she graduated from Florida State University with an English Literature degree. She was the first in her family to spend a semester abroad (Florence, Italy), leading the way for her sisters and brothers, her daughters and her nieces and nephews.
Christine had a career in sales was a born saleswoman. When she worked at the Courreges boutique on Worth Avenue and later at Burdines, customers would say: "I want to buy what you have on." At Wang Computers, she was known as "the closer."
Christine was a community activist and volunteered at her daughters' schools as a librarian, receptionist or whatever was needed, partly to keep her eye on her girls. She used to say being a mom was 50 percent parenting/50 percent private eye! In her college days Christine read literature to blind students. After raising her daughters, Christine finished a career dedicated to helping others at the Big Brother/Big Sister organization.
Christine was predeceased by her husband of over 20 years, Dr. Thomas V. Moser, and her parents.
She is survived by her three daughters Alexandra, Anna, and Sophia, her four sisters and three brothers, and a large extended family including her husband's brothers and sisters and many good friends who loved her.

It is with deepest sympathy hearing of your mother's passing. My mother worked for Dr. Moser and knew Christine through him. She talked so well of both parents but Christine had such a joy for life. Our family will keep her and all daughters in our prayers. Such remarkable memories.
