MANCHESTER - Effie Fasekis passed away on Feb. 24, 2013.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anastasia (Zioze) Fasekis, and raised in Raymond, where she attended school, graduating from Raymond High School in 1944. Following graduation Effie worked at her family's business, Raymond Fruit Co., and was a familiar and dedicated citizen. She remained in close contact with many customers and classmates throughout her life. Effie was an avid coin collector, reader and family historian, who was known for her quick wit and candor. She enjoyed travel, needlepoint and her Mediterranean culture. Despite her physical challenges or perhaps because of them she demonstrated the power of perseverance and acceptance. As a long time resident of Evergreen Place (formerly the Masonic Home) in Manchester she established many dear friends in both residents and staff. Effie is survived by her beloved sister, Helen (Fasekis) Carrier of Hampton; the treasured aunt of Deborah (Carrier) Callahan, Sharon (Carrier) Paster, Lissa (Carrier) Farbotko, and Andre "AJ" Carrier and their spouses and children. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Andre Carrier.

Helen and Family..I have so many memories of Effie at the Fruit Store. Whether I was there for a soda or my bag of pennie candy she always had a joking word and was kind and helpful and a joy to talk with. She will certainly be missed. Thank you for sharing your sister with us in Raymond.

Effie was just an amazing person and human being. While Administrator at Evergreen Place in 2011 I got to know just how special Effie really was. I loved her quick wit, sense of human and tenacity for life. She was one of the mentally toughest people I have ever met in my life. I will miss her, our little chats at the nurses station and that laugh of hers the most!
My wife and I loved this woman. She was such a ray of sunshine. We will miss seeing her face on our visits to Evergreen.
