R.B. Vinson
HARLINGEN, TX-
R.B. Vinson, 82, of Harlingen, TX passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. He is at peace with our Lord and awaits us there. Born in Channing, TX on July 1, 1931 to the late Stanley Vinson and Vannie Carter Vinson, R.B. was raised in Tucumcari, NM.
R.B. was as Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Texas at Brownsville from 1988-2003, previously teaching at Wayland Baptist University, University of Oklahoma, Evangel University and Eastern New Mexico University-his alma mater. His students and teaching were his passion.
R. B. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Fickling Vinson; children, Ronald Vinson, Susan Vinson, Hope Ann Vinson, Jona Vinson, Robert Vinson (Laura), Samantha Garcia (Steve) and grandchildren including Nathaniel James Vinson and David Reynaldo Vinson; sister, Johnnie B. Vinson of Carrolton, TX and Aunt, Rose Delaney of Clovis, NM and cousins.
A viewing to be held at 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen and service to be held graveside at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 8 at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX.
