We don't forget those people who so fundamentally enriched our lives, and I'll forever be indebted to John Garvey. When he entered my 7th grade study hall all those years ago and asked "Who wants to play a musical instrument? he, with great patience and encouragement, set me on a life long journey toward increasingly greater passion for and appreciation of so many forms of musical expression. Finally acting on a long-held desire to reconnect, I tried calling him when visiting Waterville this past August, but succeeded only in leaving a recorded message. I wish I could have thanked him in person. My deepest sympathy to family and friends of this fine man.

JOHN GARVEY was a HUMBLE MAN and a GREAT Musician and Educator. I meet John back in 2016 and We Rode Together in his Mini-truck to Many Music Concerts. He was Proud of his Children and Grandchildren. Many of Them became Music Performers. He Loved his family Camp in INLET, New York;a PEACEFUL PLACE. I Played with JOHN GARVEY in the UTICA SYMPHONY Orchestra. Later in Life He had a COMBO that played at many SENIOR Centers. His Wife TRUDY was a Great Piano Player and Performed, also at Senior Gatherings.JOHN played in La Banda Rosa and Utica College Band. He shared his Music Gift with many in Utica Area. My Wish is that JOHN,s Life maybe remembered as a Man Who Share his Music Ability with Many Younger and Older Musicians. Fred B. Munson,Jr.

I just read of John's passing and want to express my sympathy to you Trudy, and to all your children and grandchildren. John will be sorely missed not only by his family but by the entire music community in which he was so respected.
