Michael P. Geoghegan 1954 - 2017
FLOYD - Michael P. Geoghegan, 63, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017.
He was born in New York City, on February 4, 1954, the son of the late Peter and Mary Geoghegan. He was a 1971 graduate of Power Memorial Academy. On June 25, 1983, he was united in marriage to the former Bonnie Brown. She passed away on January 13, 2012.
Mike served his country in the US Navy from 1972-1975 aboard the USS Stonewall Jackson, a ballistic missile submarine.
He just recently retired as a Deputy Superintendent of Securtiy with the NYS Department of Corrections after a 39 year career.
Mike enjoyed playing golf, snowmobiling, exercising and he loved to travel.
He is survived by his son, Adam Geoghegan, of Salt Lake City, UT; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Linda Geoghegan, of Gifford, IL and Kevin and Eileen Geoghegan, of Mahopac, NY; his fiancé, Toni Pianella; two nieces, Julie Geoghegan and Hope Brown; and four nephews, Charlie, Andrew, and Kenny Geoghegan and Kyle Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Peter's Church in Rome. Interment will take place in Floyd Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday from 4-7:00 p.m.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of Mike. One of the first guy's I remember working with at Sullivan CF. Was always a good guy who treated me very well. Not surprised that he rose up thru the ranks as he did. RIP, Mike.

Still can not believe this is real.I worked with Mike several times over the years. He was very serious abut his work and expected the same from co-workers.
