Mr. L, I have thought of you and Mrs. L, often over the years, having spent three years in your mixed grade (4th-6th) class at Spring Valley Elementary, and three more years with Mrs. L in chorus at Spring Valley Middle (1985-1990). You both were so good to me through those years, and I learned so much from you, both academically and about myself. I remember learning about Shakespeare out on the lawn behind your classroom. You always made learning interesting and even fun. I'm sure many students felt this way over the years. I still have the picture of you and Mrs. L hugging me at my 8th grade graduation. Last year, I thought about looking you up to say thank you for the encouragement, challenges and laughs, and to tell you that you were a teacher I never forgot. Today, I decided to finally try to find you to see if I could come see you and give you a hug. I wish I had followed through on looking you up last year. I'm sorry to hear of your passing, and I am in tears as I am typing this. The positive impact you had on so many lives for the way you taught others, and that you truly cared, is the legacy you left with us. Thank you, Mr. L, for being a part of my journey and for you and Mrs. L making a difference in my life. You were my favorite teacher.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family...

I worked with Ed at the Independent Newspaper from 1965 until he began his teaching career at Murdoch School in Casa De Oro. He was a good friend and treasured colleague. Both our children were fortunate to have been taught by Ed. He will be missed by all who knew him.
