Jack hired me as a bartender at the Crab Catcher- and I still remember his interview. Questions like "What is your favorite movie and why?" and "If you could have any job in the world what would it be?" Says a lot about the man right there- in a business where people come and go- wait tables or tend bar until they figure out what they "really" want to do in life, he knew the personalities he was looking for. He knew what mattered and what didn't. As many others have said, I can't remember Jack ever yelling at anyone. Always the calm in the eye of the hurricane. Everyone who worked with Jack came to know his dry sense of humor and sarcastic wit. He loved to talk sports, art, current events. Spent many great times playing golf, shooting pool, or just hanging at the bar shooting the breeze. What a wonderful soul. I always came away thinking Jack had everything figured out- he was just one of those guys. Treated everyone equally. We will ALL miss you, "big horse"- thank you for enriching our lives. (also- thank you for hiring my wife whom I met there- 25 years and counting...!) Miss ya, "Big Boy".

Early 70's, Stag & Hound in Clairemont. Jack and I worked together and I found him to be an asset in every way. Jack had great balance, a superb attitude, he could tend bar ,wait tables, never a complaint, quick witted, and kind to people around him.His attitude was infectious to all the other employees. He made my job alot easier. That was probably the best crew I ever had. He will be missed greatly.

All of us at Estate Of Mind, Inc. are mourning the loss of our friend and colleague, Jack Knight. I first met Jack about eight years ago at one of my sales. He offered his help and soon became a friend. He was happiest when sharing his extensive knowledge of everything from antique tools to Inuit artifacts. Jack was an eclectic collector of the unusual and the quirky, as well as museum quality treasures. He had a passion for the art of craftsmanship – from the elaborate carving on scrimshaw to the subtle curve of a cabochon.

Jack brought us all together with his calm advise, his storytelling and his big heart. We will remember him every time we open a box of crazy collectables, every time we have a popsicle while working in a hot garage and every time we have a burger at Five Guys.

We love you and miss you Jack.
