Rosemary, what sweet parents you had. I lived down Willow Rd from you (Denise Reed) and I remember how happy and serene your parents were. Your Mom loved to craft and your home was always welcoming and busy. You are all in my prayers!

Mergens family, I had the privilege of having Dick as my science teacher at Montgomery AND as a colleague at Wangenheim in Mira Mesa. As a teacher he entertained me with his wit and humour. His trick of starting to write with his left hand and switching to his right in the middle of his body was something this 8th grader needed to keep my focus. As a colleague he taught me the signs to look for when a student was in need of serious help, for that I was forever grateful. He was a patient man and a super person. He was a positive influence on so many of us. Truly an extra special person.

I have many fond memories of both your parents and send my condolences to you, the children and grandchildren of two great people.

To the Mergens family - Please accept my sincere condolences. Mr. Mergens (I attended Montgomery Jr. High School) was a great teacher - after reading his obituary I realize that he was an even better person - accomplishing so much and enriching the lives of those around him.
Sincerely, Terry Dugan-Mansfield
