Rose,
I know this is a little late, but I felt the need to add my thoughts. Rose...you were an AMAZING woman, I had the pleasure of working with you for a few years before you retired from Sempra. I was a young girl out of college when you took a chance on me and I built a career in accounting because of you.
You were always so bright, happy,independent and STRONG! I admired you for all of these qualities and more. But what I loved the most about you is that you never let anyone get you down or push you down no matter what their title/position was! Haha..you were the epitome of strength and grace and I am happy to know that although you are not here with us physically anymore, you will always be in our hearts and may your family find peace in the eternal love and strength you sowed around you throughout your life and the fact that it remains lingering thereafter.
Thank you Rose, for being strong, funny,kind of heart, sympathetic, amazing and for just being you!

We are so sorry for the loss of our dear friend Rose. We met when working for QN and Co. and then SDG&E/Sempra. Our son Ryan had a huge crush on Rose when we were all assigned to a job in Sacramento in 1978. She had a beautiful smile and laugh as well as a soft touch and huge heart. Her family was her greatest happiness. Be blessed with many happy memories.

Dear Rose, Ali, Tim, Donald and all the family,
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. It is indeed a blessing that Rose has been delivered from pain and discomfort and is now at peace; I send prayers and hopes that this offers even the smallest bit of solace during this difficult time. I am so, so sorry.
Rose was an amazing woman who shaped my childhood. Her family, Miranda, Ali and Tim, were regular figures in our lives, even after we moved away from San Diego. I still consider Miranda my best childhood friend, and I cherish the times we spent together. I remember Rose's compassion and open-heartedness, encouragement and love throughout my childhood, and I spent many nights, days, afternoon play dates, weekends and excursions together from a memorable age (not to mention our earliest childhood with Liz, our lovely New Zealand nanny).
I remember, Miranda, your first house, spending the night and having Rose make us dinner, bake us cookies and let us stay up late watching Sister Act. I remember Rose's patience with your poodle, Fifel. I remember spilling calamine lotion on your rug and trying to cover it up. Instead of being mad, Rose gave me the biggest hug and told me not to worry, that we could all clean it up together.
I remember trips to Balboa with all of you, holidays, trips to Sea World, Disneyland with camp, children's theater plays, swimming, birthdays, the fun fancy toys you all had, including a drivable plastic car, getting to watch all kinds of movies my parents wouldn't let me, the smell of your house...Rose's lovely hospitality when I was visiting in elementary school, middle school and high school.
I am so grateful that Miranda, Donald, your children and Rose all met with Bri and I when we visited San Diego a while back. I appreciated Rose's genuine interest in my fiance, Rose's patience, her giving Bri and I a ride to Balboa, her laughter at the lunch table.
I always have admired Rose. I admired her work ethic, her provisions for her family, her incredibly strong ties with her own family, her relationship with Tim, her love for the simple and finer things in life.
I miss all of you and I am sending my love and deepest prayers during this time. I am so grateful to have known such an lovely woman and I will never forget her. My love to all of you.

I grew up knowing Rose not just as my mother's best friend, but also as a dear friend to our family. I have fond memories of my mother and I visiting with Rose, Ali and Miranda and in the later years celebrating holidays or whenever she came to visit NYC. I was blessed to have Rose celebrate my college and graduate school graduations and will forever treasure our chats and constant laughter. We love you and you will be greatly missed.

Miranda and Family,
I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your mom. What an interesting and important life she led! She left an important legacy as President of our Girl Scouts Board. She served us before I came to San Diego, but I remember meeting her several times over the years. She had such a loveliness and dignity about her. I was fascinated with her stories about hand bells! She inspired others and made a very positive contribution to our council. Her leadership and vision helped shape our property master plan, which has been finally accomplished. Lonnie and I have known Rose for almost 40 years. From our early years together in public accounting to SDG&E and Sempra Energy. She has been at times my colleague and other times my boss, but she was always my good friend and confidant. We will miss Rose's friendly smile, gracious heart and wonderful sense of humor. The Warren, Mn Bible Camp is where I first met Rose and the Aftreth family back in the 60's! That was the beginning of many great memories and events with Rose and her family which have helped shape who I am today. I held Rose, my youngest cousin when she first came home from the hospital and loved her instantly. My love for her has grown over the last 59 years until I can't imagine life here on earth without her sweetness intelligence and generosity. By God's grace, I knew Rose her whole life as her older sister, older by only 13.5 months, so we were almost like twins ...so thankful, too, that my husband and our daughter/son & wife knew dearest Rose over half of her life ...

Rose and I first met when our oldest children were about a month old (give or take a week or two). One of our neighbors had heard us each separately moaning about childcare and invited us to dinner. We had a lot in common, not just baby girls! We decided to pair up for a nanny (and were so lucky in our choice!). For the next 2 years we learned a lot! Then we both had another baby just a few weeks apart. Great minds and all that! My family moved away in 1993; we saw each other rarely, but we kept in touch. I will miss her.

Dear Aftreth family,
I am sorry for your loss. It is never easy to lose a loved one, regardless if they have lived a full life. One thing I will say is that "WE" should be happy and allow our God to take her soul into his care where she will forever be at peace.
