Williams, Sidney Scott 06/14/1921 ~ 09/13/2013 POWAY -- Sidney, 92, was born in Houston, Mississippi (Chickasaw County) to John Clifton and Lenora Holleman Williams. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Clifton Jr. (Bub), and sister, Hattie Aycock. Houston High School graduate Class of 1940. On Dec. 9, 1941, twenty-year-old Sidney joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served our country during WWII, the Korean War, and various other duty stations. He retired, as a CPO-E7, in 1961 after 20 years of service. Also, he retired from the County of San Diego Road Dept. after 20 years in 1983. Family was everything to Sidney. They are what made him happiest. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 67 years, Grace Marie, and four kindhearted children, Sidney Scott Jr., John (Janice), Bruce (Wendi), and Denise (Ron) Haughelstine. He is adored by 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. His infectious, loving personality affected the lives of those that were blessed to know him. A graveside service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery (5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego) on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at 12:30 p.m.

I knew Sid from his days at the Navy Exchange on Miramar. I always enjoyed his stories and truly miss our conversations. A good man loved by all.
