Sousa- Thompson, Theresa CARLSBAD -- Theresa Sousa- Thompson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on October 13, 2014 surrounded by her family and loved ones in her home in Carlsbad, Calif. Theresa had battled ALS for the better part of 18 months. She was born in Cambridge, Mass. on February 13, 1948 to Albert and Anna Sousa. Theresa was raised in San Diego, Calif., where she graduated from Crawford High School Class of 1965. Soon after she married Conrad G. Davis and began her family. A devoted mother, she was active in many different aspects of her daughters' lives. After her children graduated, she entered the workforce and with previous experience with "punch cards," she promptly went to work as an Information Technology Manager with a large nationwide construction company. With her pioneering spirit, she worked her way up through the mostly male-dominated field with professionalism and a friendly attitude that was contagious and inviting. She made many friends throughout her short life, as she was someone that everyone wanted to be around. Her greatest joys in life were her daily exercise, consisting of walking, yoga and Pilates, and her three beloved grandchildren, Ryan Nicole Howe, Tyler Karl Becker and Dylan Alec Becker. Theresa is survived by her husband Robert Thompson; her daughters, Kristin Michelle Becker and Joey Davis; her sister Trisha Eastburn and her brother Jay Sousa, as well as her previously mentioned grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 1st at The Christ Presbyterian Church in Carlsbad. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in her name to the San Diego ALS chapter.
