Here is you with Laura, your horse in 1986.. It was getting chilly, as it is now. Laura loved apples and you loved to give one to her. It will be Thanksgiving next Thursday and we will be enjoying turkey and stuffed celery with cream cheese that you loved. The holidays make us miss you more than ever. With love at this time of year and always, Mom

Halloween isn't a holiday that I enjoy, however we let you get dressed up as something cute instead of scary. Your dad would take you around to people we knew to get the treats. This picture of you was taken in 1978 when we lived in North Carolina. What a cute cat you made. One of the nicest things that you had written about me was that I would make cute costumes for you. You were a very sweet child and grown up. I will love you forever and a day sweetheart!
Love always and always,
September 14, 2014
Today, September 14, will be 2 years that your life on earth ended.
Every day of the past two years was full of memories of the times that we had with you. Looking through the many pictures keeps those memories alive.
We went many places and enjoyed your company, because you were a fun child. The picture that is posted is you in front of the Alamo in Texas in 1977. God allowed you to be with us such a short time here, but we will have eternity to get better acquainted.
We will love you forever my sweet girl and we will see you soon.
Love always,
July 04, 2014
Here is a picture of you, Andrea and me in front of Hatteras Lighthouse in 1986.

Today is July 4th. The remnats of Hurricane Arthur just passed us. We got rain and wind but that is all. The Outter Banks and Cape Hatteras got the worst of the storm. Here is you and Andrea sitting besides the Hatteras Lighthouse. Love to you always and forever, Mom

As usual it is hot here, which reminded me of scuba diving. Here you and Dad are getting ready to dive in the Bahamas in 1989. I don't dive but it looked fun. Love and kisses to you today and always. Mom

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I will miss your call and card. You were a great daughter. It is going to be in the high 80's and a great day to enjoy the sun like you did in this picture. You were trying to look like Baby the cat. Another fun time with our animals. Love to you always, Mom

On January 10th you would have been 42 years old. You never seemed to age and looked as you were when you were 18. Here is a picture taken in 1990. We got dressed up and took you to the Williamsburg Inn to celebrate your 18th birthday. Love Mom
December 24, 2013
You will always be our little girl, no matter how old you got. So this year we are celebrating you as a young innocent. Merry Christmas my darling child. Love Mom
December 15, 2013
This picture was taken Christmas 1989. We always gave you a new Christmas gown or pj's every year. You of course were clowning around for this picture. You were such a great fun child, Vickie.
This is our second Christmas without you and we miss you so much. My heart is full of memories of you sweetheart. Your loving mom

The Williamsburg Parade is the December 7 this year. It is the beginning of the Christmas Season here. Nunya, your horse, loved being in the parade and was very quiet gentle horse. She was actually a ham in the parade. We would bring her in the horse trailer to our house, which is only a block away from the parade route and then at the end of the parade we would put her in our back yard for a while and then take her back to the barn. All of us enjoyed being in the parade. This picture was taken in 1987. Love remembering the good times. Love to you now and always, Mom
November 14, 2013
Found this newspaper clipping of you when you were doing town tours for children for Colonial Williamsburg. It was part of a 4-H project. You had fun doing this!
October 28, 2013
This picture was taken at the 4-H Virginia State Fair 1983. The costume class was one of the favorites and you and Nunya won 3rd place. You always liked to dress up not only yourself, but Nunya too. Happy Days,
Love, Mom
October 19, 2013
It's the end of summer, so I have decided to post a happy picture of you taken in Cape Hatteras. Your ashes are supposed to be there, so this is how I will picture you. Love, Mom
October 09, 2013
As I mentioned, you became an Emergency Medical Techican in 1996 and sewed patches to you jacket while you were here. You were so happy and very proud to become an EMT. The dog you are with is Mowgli, the dog you got when you were at Virginia Tech. We are proud of you too. I am going through lots of photos and will post them at different times.
A proud and loving mother

In 1984 we owned a 27 foot Watkins motorized sailboat that we named “Friendship”. We kept the boat in Gloucester Virginia, which is across the Coleman Bridge at Yorktown. We were going to horse shows that year too, so we didn't get a chance to go sailing much, but enjoyed it when we did. Here is a picture of you at the helm. You were 12 years old here.
September 23, 2013
One of the happiest times of your life was when you were at Virginia Tech and belonged to the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). This is an international living history group with the aim of studying and recreating mainly Medieval European cultures and their histories before the 17th century .
You told me of the events that you went to and how much fun they were! Here is a photo of you in the sword fighters costume (don't know the correct term they use).
Anyway I forgot to put this activity in the previous posting.
I will keep remembering and writing about the happy times you had on this earth.
Love to you forever,
September 15, 2013
I think of Vickie so often and wanted to send my thoughts to her family. She and I studied karate together for several years. We stuck together and went thru many tests together. I sure do miss her by my side quietly lending her support. She was my go-to person if I had a question about caring for my cats. And she was our cat-sitter when we travelled. I am sure they miss her loving touch.

We miss you, my friend!
September 14, 2013
Remembering you today.
September 14, 2013
I have come to know you through the loving thoughts your mother shares on your memorial site. My prayer is that she continues to be comforted as she talks to you here, until the day she gets to hug you in heaven.

One year ago, today, your life on this earth ended. One minute you were here and the next you were not. At the age of 40 no one expects to die, suddenly, without any warning.
We, as parents, expect our children to outlive us and continue to carry on with their lives until THEIR old age. That was not GOD'S Plan. Only He, in His great wisdom, knows why your life here was a short one. Although your life was brief, it was filled with many accomplishments. With Peninsula Horse Show and 4H you showed your horses Nunya first and then Laura and won trophies, ribbons and championships. As a sophomore in high school you played “Lili” in the play “Carnival”. You and your dad got your masters in scuba diving, which you did locally and in the Bahamas and Florida. In later years you worked with stained glass and made many beautiful objects and jewelry. You were proud and happy to become an Emergency Medical Technician. Over the years you enjoyed Karate and Yoga. Then you joined a gun club and did shooting competition. Kayaking was another activity that you did most recently.
You worked at the Animal Rescue Foundation in Milledgeville, Georgia. Animals of all kinds: dogs, cats, horses, pet rabbit, gerbils and (feeding the humming birds) were your passion. You continued to bring animals into your life and were devoted to them all. You were visiting Florida and wrote that you were snorkeling with the manatees and petted the friendly giants which was both humbling and exciting. What a fine gentle hearted woman you were. Your showed love and respect for animals
Where did the years go? One day you were playing dress up and the next day you were off to college. In the KJV Bible Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
My prayer is that we did train you in God's way and you never forgot.
Our lives will never be the same without you
Our love to you always my darling daughter,
September 04, 2013
The is the note that you wrote, "Don't worry,
Don't hurry,
Don't forget to smell the flowers!
Looking at your note makes me smile and then I smell the flowers!
Love you always,
September 03, 2013
We have kept fresh carnations on the buffet in front of your picture this past year. When you were little you wrote a note "Don't worry, Don't hurry, Don't forget to smell the flowers!" You drew a cute rabbit at the bottom. We kept the notes and pictures you made over the years and treasure them more than gold.

On September 14th it will be 1 year since you died. Although the initial shock of your sudden death has faded, the hurt and grieving remains fresh in our hearts. Whatever caused your death, we will never know (autopsy was inconclusive) but, we will miss you and love you until we meet again. Your Dad and I have placed a stone in your memory next to our pre-death stones at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Williamsburg Virginia. Although you are not there physically, your spirit will remain with us forever. Here is a picture of the stone. We will love you forever, Love, Your Mom

This is one of my favorite pictures of you. The expression on your face is priceless. You were trying to keep a straight face while I was getting up on Nunya your horse. Remebering the fun times is what I keep remembering.

December 31, 2012
This is you in 2008 saying good-bye. It is a fitting picture for 2012 since you did leave us. I emailed you just months before your death that I had just watched the Muppet movie "Muppets Take Manhattan". The song "Saying Goodbye" is in this movie. I emailed you that this was a sad song, but a good one for saying good-bye to the one you have lost. How ironic that it would be you instead of me. I love you my darling daughter. Your body isn't here, but your spirit lives forever. With love always, Mom

Your first year in Heaven, our first year without you. Our tradition was to read the Christmas story last year you read it. Merry Christmas we know you are living in a better place and rejoicing with the angels.

Luke 2

King James Version (KJV)

2 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

King James Version
2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
October 17, 2012
To the family: I would like to express my deepest sympathy for your dear loved one who has fallen asleep in death. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time.

We are deeply saddened by Vickie's passing. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. Her friends in the karate and yoga classes will also miss her terribly. Vickie and I started karate about the same time and achieved so much - always together. It will not be the same without her friendship and support.

Vickie was a diligent and enthusiastic student of both yoga and karate. Over time she also became a good friend. I particularly enjoyed our after-class conversations about our cats. I will miss her as both a student and friend.

We hope it helps to know that others care deeply and are thinking about you.

Sincerely, Anita and Philip
