I only just found out that my Auntie Audie had passed away recently. So many good memories from when I was a child and visiting BC and then lots of letters we exchanged as I got older. I remember visiting gardens in BC with her and also visiting West Edmonton Mall with her the very first year when it opened and she was in Alberta with our family. Always remembered as my godmother. Peace.

The Thomson family are privileged to have had Angela as a teacher since the early 1970's. Merle Thomson especially will miss Angela as a performing partner and a friend. For over 20 years Angela and Merle hosted a spring recital where friends and family enjoyed the beautiful music that Angela and Merle performed together on two pianos. Our entire family send our deepest condolences to Liz and Larry and the rest of Angela's family. With love from Merle, Stewart, Stan, Anne, John and David Thomson.

Angela....It's so hard to believe that I just spoke with you about month ago and got to see you at the honours recital in November! I really miss you! I will also miss those days you used to drop by on your way home; lunch dates and you getting home before dark; talking about dogs, Hawaii stories, shop talk, your red cars, your laugh, and your beautiful handwriting on your Christmas card that would always arrive first in the mail. Thank you for the apple strudel connection. Thank you for being my friend. May you rest with the Angels!

As a student at Jean Lyons School, Angela was never my full-time teacher, but I remember her extra lessons to help me prepare for an exam or festival with real warm feelings. I always learned so much and felt so encouraged by her. She was always a warm, and loving teacher. Reading her student's words is a wonderful way to get a window into the real Angela. I was not aware of how very ill Angela was, back in the late summer because I would always hear her laughter and feel her positive attitude towards people and life. Angela, you have always been a wonderful example to us all, with your kindness and positive outlook.

We were saddened to hear of the news. You were such a patient, caring and dedicated teacher/friend. Our deepest condolences and love to your family and friends. We will miss you. Rest in Peace, Ms. Barbour

I have a trophy always sitting on top of my piano. The inscription says:
"Winston Poon; Distinction Award 1995; Pupil of Angela Barbour; Jean Lyons School of Music."
This trophy has been sitting there for over 20 years and it probably will be there for at least another 20+ years. Thank you, Ms. Barbour, you were a wonderful music teacher. You will always be remembered.
With Love,
Winston

We do not have the words to describe our sorrow. 9 years ago, I was very lucky that you have taken my son Marcus as one of your students and then 2 years later Mason. Your patience, gentleness, courage gave the boys the power to go as far as they are now, without you, it would not have happened! Every Tuesday, Marcus and Mason were excited to see you, they liked to play hide and seek with you and you would always play along with them. You are not just their piano teacher, you are our mentor, you taught us so many things in life and had walked us through all these years. We will never forget your smile, your caring, your sense of humour, your spirit will live on forever in our hearts. We love you and we thank you for all these years, you will always be remembered as part of our family.

It is with great sadness to write this guest book! Danielle, your sweetheart, was your student for 9 years. We often say it is questionable as to whether she would go as far as she is if it wasn't for you! You know when to rein her in and when to let things go. Not only did you teach her piano, you also taught her to be a better person. We already miss your laughter, your wit, your grace, your integrity and your kindness. She was excited to see you every Monday as she liked to share her experiences with you. You listened to her attentively. She would play games and tell jokes and you would play and laugh along. You cheered for her and always encouraged her to do her best. You were more than a piano teacher, you were part of her support system, her mentor. You are like your name, an Angel that we came across and someone we will cherish for years to come. We thank you for these years and you are sorely missed!

My sister Danielle and I were lucky to be among Angela's first students at the Jean Lyons School of Music. She gave us the gift of a lifelong love of music which we have passed on to our children. I'm forever grateful for her lessons in piano and in life. Angela embodied grace, strength, courage, humour and passion, and it was a privilege to be part of her "family". I hope she is now enjoying the greatest trip of her life, surrounded by warmth and comfort of loved ones (human and canine), delicious food and of course...music.

It is with great sadness to hear the news. Her presence will be missed at Jean Lyons School of music. The dedication that was shown to her students and the friendships that were made will feel a great loss. The music world has lost a great teacher. I enjoyed tuning the pianos for the school and had nice talks with Angela over the years.
