I went to medical school with Chris. He was a great study partner and always raised the bar. We had good times both in Saint Martin and in Ireland during our rotations. We pushed each other. I've always been deeply saddened to hear of his injuries. His potential was limitless. Rest In Peace Chris.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband and I went to med. school with him and were with him in Ireland where we all did our 3rd year rotations. My heart breaks for you and for him. He was so smart and driven. He would have without question been a fantastic cardiologist or whatever other speciality he might have chosen. We stumbled upon the blog you wrote for a while a couple of years ago when we were trying to see where he had ended up, and when we read what had happened we felt so sad and sickened. Life dealt him such an unfair hand. He was lucky to have you as his supportive family. He clearly got his determination and strength from you. The way you fought for him to get the needed treatment was inspiring. Chris deserved so much more from life and so many patients would have benefited from his care; however, he still clearly inspired and touched many people by his determination to get better. He had such a strong spirit, I'm not surprised he fought as long and as hard as he did. At least his spirit is free again now. We will always have fond memories of him. Our deepest sympathy to you.

I just want to express my deepest condolences to the Bigelow family in the loss of Chris. I did not know Chris personally only through his tragic story. He would have been an amazing doctor I am sure. I am so sorry he was not able to do what he so wanted to do in life. May all of your memories of Chris bring comfort to you always.

Though i never really knew you that well before the accident, somehow you still manage to be a great inspiration on me. I'd come to terms knowing I would probably never see you like you once were but i couldn't imagine never getting to know you. Even though you never got to make the changes in life for those in need with your own hands, i hope that your story itself can start that change.

We send our deepest sympathy to everyone for this tragic loss. My fondest memories of Chris was his drive and passion when on the ice, playing hockey.
