I attended Como Lake Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1964. Dan was my Grade 10 science teacher and football coach. I liked and respected how Dan made you work hard to achieve what he expected from you while provided excellent feedback, guidance, and encouragement. He will be sorely missed and especially by me. May he Rest In Peace.

Dan was my Home room teacher and Biology teacher at Como in the 1950's and 60's. Last saw him at our 50 anniversary reunion in 2010. Dan was also football coach.

I have a picture of Dan on my study wall. It shows Dan, on his knees, drawing a play on the wet ground, at one of our high school football practices. In later years I remember being at a Saint Patricks Day Function, with Dan, when Dan's brother Bernie got up to the microphone and sang ' O Danny Boy'. We all looked over at Dan and he had tears streaming down his face. Tough coach with a touching heart. How can I not forget such a dedicated and caring man.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad, Jess. Please accept my sympathy for your loss. I have fond memories of visiting you and your parents in the early 80's. I feel lucky that I had an opportunity to get to know your dad after I graduated from Centennial. Sending you love and a wish for peace.

It makes to smile to think of the laughs Mr. Doyle is now sharing with his late colleagues from District 43, my dad included. I remember seeing him in his cool old car ahead of us as I was being driven to Como Lake and he was enroute to Centennial. A great life!

I went to school with Jess from elementary school. Mr Doyle was the principal when we went to Centennial. I found him to be kind, positive and a good man. My condolences to the family. On behalf of the group of girls you went to school with from elementary, Jess, we are sorry for your loss.

Tyla and I were unable to attend the memorial for Dan. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Alleyne and Jess. I will miss my oldest brother and cherish my memories of him.
For when the One Great Scorer comes To write against your name, He marks- not that you won or lost- But how you played the game.
Dan played the game well and is remembered that way.

As one of the Doyles, I'd like to add a giant thank you to everyone who attended the memorial gathering on April 25, and to the team of volunteers who helped set up the gym and the cafeteria for the gathering of guests. I see there are a few of you who have singed this message board. Please pass along a Doyle thanks to others, too. We are very grateful for the generous amount of help and kindness extended by so many people. Very best wishes for good health and happiness to all of you.

I went to Como Lake High School in the later 1950's and early 1960's. Mr. Doyle was a huge presence in my School life and especially as my favourite Biology Teacher. I loved that subject and much of that was due to his confidence in me and his expectations. He will always be 'the teacher' who made a difference in my life.

I attended Como Lake HS during the early sixties. I played football and was one of the team captains under Coach Doyle.Dan was a great motivator that instilled confidence, respect and hard work from his players. Dan loved football and had the ability to bring players with different backgrounds and skill sets to work together as a team. Dan idol was Paul"Bear" Bryant coach of Alabama from 1958 to 1982. He followed his idol's approach to football. All students and players that had contact with Dan will miss him dearly. Dan loved his family. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.

Some people you expect to live forever...so it was a surprise and a shock to hear of Dan's passing. Yet in this case, Dan's memory and legacy will continue to shine. Growing up, Dan, Alleyne and Jess were wonderful next door neighbours. I hope to see you again on Saturday.

Como Lake/ Centennial legend. Dan was a sensitive, intelligent coach who loved the game, the players, the community - loved the whole concept of football, sports and high school. He made a profound contribution to the lives of countless young people and friends.

Dan was my uncle, my late father's oldest brother. Uncle Dan was always enthusiastic and cheerful whenever I saw him. He had a gift for being upbeat and positive when he spoke to people, and he was a very interesting storyteller, which I believe was due to the fact he was kind, wise and well-read. He could recount chapters in history with ease and did so while sharing his perspective. I'd say he was a natural teacher, and I know he was highly respected for what he brought to others. Bless you, uncle Dan, aunt Alleyne and cousin Jess. Love,
Ben

I was a Como Lake student (class of 59) and have many fond memories of Dan. He was my home room teacher one senior year, and he "encouraged" us guys to go out for football. Me, a total non-jock, tried it out. Other than facefulls of mud and fingers poked in eyes, it was a great experience. When I was setting up the class reunion in 2009, Dan came to several of the meetings, added great insight, and spoke beautifully at the reunion. I posted a photo in Everett McGowin's memorial page of Dan speaking and Everett enjoying it immensely. God bless, Dan, and RIP. You leave many friends behind.
