A more extended memory of Dave at my blog, Northern Insight:

Thanks Dave for all the opportunities you gave me, to work in the film business at Alpha Cine as a freelance technician over the years.
You helped many of us reach a level of professional craftsmanship that surely was a cornerstone of this First Class Film Industry in Vancouver.
He would joke, "Does anybody want my job, it's yours", knowing damn well no one in town could do it near as well as he could.
Thanks for putting a a piece of Vancouver rich with movie characters into my life.

I come late to this remembrance because Dave and I disconnected after years of closeness. I'm proud that I engineered his move to Vancouver to join Alpha Cine. That was incredibly important to the development of the services needed by the BC film industry. Dave cared most about serving filmmakers and the industry. That didn't necessarily fit short term corporate goals although we believed it did in the longer term, a difficult sell to the company owners.

Dave was a guy who cared about the big picture; he would work 100 hours a week if needed. He was whip smart, funny and frequently god damned frustrating to me as the chief paper pusher.

The fact is that BC would not have the film industry it has enjoyed for many years had Dave and Anne not moved to Vancouver. There are many suits willing to take credit but much of the development belongs to Dave. (Also Geo. Chapman, who here provides his condolence.) I know, because I was there when the service facilities simply couldn't get the job done. More than anyone else, David reversed that situation.

Dear Ann and Family,
I was so sorry to hear from my parents (Hazel- nee Hardon & George Clark) that Dave had passed away. They had told me often how much they enjoyed having dinner with you & Dave when they were in Vancouver. We are very sad to hear of Dave's passing and our thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Ann. Carolyn, Kelly. Cathy and families. I was very saddened by Daves passing and have been thinking about you all. Dave and I had some really good times and I will cherish those memories always.
