Dit bewijst maar weer eens dat niet alle Duitsers slecht waren in de oorlog. Rust in vrede meneer Stigler...hoop het boek "A higher call" te kunnen vinden in een Nederlandse vertaling.

The picture of your BF109 flying alongside of Charlie Brown's bomber hangs in my recreation room. It was an honorable thing that you did over 50 years ago. I'm sure you and Charlie have many stories to tell each other high above this Earth. You can rest in peace knowing you did the right thing.

I have just read of Franz Stigler's amazing story. He was a courageous and honourable man. I wish I could have met to tell him how highly I hold his actions in my esteem.

My Father was one of Patton's lieutenants. We were stationed in Augsburg, Germany after the war and got to know Frau Rommel and Manfred. Rommel infected not only his own troops with his honor code but also his enemies! Patton acknowledged it and my father lived by it. You did answer God's higher call Franz. Your compassion and chivalry will live as long as this story is told.
