NUTCHEY, Gregory Thomas Joseph
December 14, 1955 – December 6, 2017
Greg Nutchey, loving husband, father, brother and uncle, passed away on December 6, 2017, at 61 years of age, of gastric cancer. Greg was born in Vancouver on December 14, 1955. He grew up in Vancouver and lived in the immediate area for his entire life. Greg was an outgoing people person with a tremendous energy for life that he shared with friends and family. He had a great curiosity for many things; he read extensively and was an avid musician, singer and great storyteller who rarely forgot the punch line of jokes. He was always willing to help neighbours and family on any project that came along, big or small. He had great technical skills and enjoyed fixing computers. He often said he got immense satisfaction out of seeing the light of understanding in another's eyes, after one of his explanations. Greg was especially passionate about the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society, and was an active member himself, giving numerous arboretum tours. He believed in saving the Riverview lands and the heritage trees that grow there, for future generations to continue enjoying this natural haven for mental health. His whole family, friends and community, will feel the loss of this generous human being. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Alison Fenn; their daughter, Sabrina; his big sisters Nicola (Robert) and Debora (Richard); sister-in-law Valerie (John); brothers-in-law Mark (Sandra), Greg (Evangeline), Frank (Lorraine), Derek; nieces Amanda (Elliott), Erin (Sheldon), Karina (Brad), Julie (Jerry), Jennifer (Adam), Jennifer (Michael), Isabelle, Celeste, Lilyanah, Delaney, nephews Eric (Jessica), Damon (Arwen), Jason (Katie), Bradley, Amos, and their families. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care. There will be a celebration of Greg's life at First Memorial Funeral Services Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave, Port Coquitlam at 1 p.m., Tuesday December 19. If desired, in lieu of flowers the family suggests supporting the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society.

My sincere condolences to the Nutchey Family. Greg was one of the best. Through Jayo Band, UBC, The Province Newsroom he was there for you. He got work for me at The Province not once but twice. I am forever grateful to Greg. May he rest in peace.

I produced a multi image slide show presentation on the beauty of the Riverview Lands,1994. Greg did the verbal presentation and I put on the visual presentation to share the unique beauty this site contains. His presentations were filled with love and wonder, a verbal delight to the ear. It was my honour.
Thank you Greg.
