Happy Birthday to my wonderful dad! Your candle will always be lit in my heart. Hope your celebrating this special day opening a 'surprise box' (great family tradition) enjoying a New York steak, baked potato, and a glass of Chateauneuf-Du-Pape or two...followed by white cake and of course freshly baked peanut butter cookies. Missing u so much dad! Have a great party with family and so many great friends. Wonder what joke or prank your going to play today. Your always my 'man made of steel'.
Cheers dad! Love you deeply! Lor

Your presence doesn't feel like a memory to me, John, not yet at least. Will it ever? I even wonder. For I only have to think of you, and that sweet sea-blue twinkling smile of yours gently wafts from somewhere too close to call memory, lifting up my heart with fondness and love. And my heart buoyantly rides small and big waves of gratitude--to destiny I guess--for those last precious few years of your life, where I had the privilege of being a very small part of. My own life was blessed by that beyond measure, John. Thank you for every moment!

Your life was a gift to all those whom you touched because YOU embraced life as the gift it really is. Your memory will always be a happy one because you only knew how to spread joy around, even in the harshest of times.
So, like a twinkling star who doesn't even know how else to appear to our eyes on earth, you will keep shining, John, in our hearts.
This oil painting is one I made in your memory, John:"Sunset from the Pink Palace".

MY dearest G.O.D. (Good ol' Dad), I am broken hearted having to write this to my best friend but b/c of all the fantastic memories you gave me I know in time it will slowly start to heal. As you always said " people can take from you what they will but they never can take your memories" which thanks to you my heart and mind are over loaded. You have given me an incredible life with so much laughter, kindness & the real sense of what a gentleman means. I know you are always with me 'not too far away'. I always loved talking to you from where ever in the world you were and receiving your infamous postcards...Where's Waldo... I could write forever but I know someday I will be in your arms receiving your beautiful and meaningful hugs you were always so generous with.
Still waiting for you to appear and say "Gotcha" followed by your infectious laugh. You will always be a Dynasty to me dad. Forever missed but I will just close my eyes, and seeing you will help fill the emormous void. With tears and greatfullness I will see you soon Baboon. With ALL my love to the most special and favorite guy in the world and beyond. Forever Lor xox!

Although, I only had occasion to meet Mr Erickson a few times, he was a very proud and engaged grandpa and father. He raised a beautiful family that will continue to be a tribute to a life very well lived. His legacy burns brightly.

We are in California and have just heard of John's passing. We loved John and share the deep sense of loss experienced by all family and friends. What a beautifully crafted obituary. It captures the essence and quality of the man and the life he led, his love and pride in family, his joy of life, love of humour and value of friendship. We are better for having known him over these past 35 years, in work and at play. He is sadly missed. Unfortunately we will be in California and will be unable to attend the service, but will be there in spirit. Our sincere condolences to Helaine, Lori, Michael and all the family.

A donation in John's name will be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

This Geoff Edmunds In Surrey. I will always remember John as a special, colourful whom I respected and admired greatly. John "came to my rescue" as an investor and partner in my Company just when we needed financing to move forward to do great things. He became a close and dear friend as he and enjoyed many a fun meal over fine wine and laughs. And, oh, what a wonderful sense of humour! He was a smart, brilliant business man, but with a compassion for his fellow man. I delighted in working and playing with him and he will remain a fixture in my mind forever. Every time I think of John, I chuckle...and that's how I'm sure he would want to be remembered. Goodbye, old friend.
