I first met Joe as an educator at a CUPE labour course I took at the Winter School at Harrison Hot Springs. I liked him right away. He knew his stuff and imparted a sense that the labour movement was a natural extension of the basic human trait to band together and help each other. The values he taught me then, I carry to this very day. I continued to run into Joe over the years and always enjoyed his company. My sincere condolences to his family on his passing. He has left his mark on this world.

Dear Nancy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I did not know Joe well, but I remember him as a warm, affable man and a great storyteller. I hope your many memories of your life together will give you comfort at this time. My condolences to you and your family. You are in my thought, take care.

Dear Nancy, Kim and David thinking of you at this time. Joe was one of a kind, he had a huge heart. I have so many good memories of your house in Richmond when the kids were young and your beautiful Visla Fanny would lie on the couch with the kids, it was a special time and home. Nancy what a loss for you, the two of you shared so much in your lifetime together. Know you are in my thoughts and heart. We are now in Victoria so it is unlikely I will make the memorial but know a candle for Joe will be lit in our home and I will be thinking of you three. much love Roz Walls

Joe was an exceptional, caring human being with an incredibly nice demeanor. He was my first campaign manager and he exuded confidence even as the broader campaign faltered. British Columbia has lost a man who has contributed to making our part of the world more progressive, fairer, and better. We will miss him.

Joe had a kind heart and a wicked sense of humour. It was a joy working with him at Prov. Office.
Sending thoughts of love to you Nancy

A good human who I shall miss. I recall Joe entertaining my son Mike and I at a Richmond stable about 25 years ago. He treated my10 year old as he did everyone, with respect. My condolences Nancy,a life well lived.

One of my favourite people, a kinder, gentler more understanding boss one could not ask for....and we had horses in common.
Joe will never be forgotten.........
