Saddened to hear of Joy's passing. Many wonderful memories of John & Joy during my youth, attending house parties and playing backyard badminton at their house in Burnaby. Sincerest condolences to the family.

My deepest sympathies I send to the family all to soon again.
Joy was well named as she brought happiness and joy to all that knew her. She will be well remembered and dearly missed by me and I will cherish the times that Joy, her loving husband John and I would sit for hours drinking coffee at home and Tim Hortons.
Sincerely
John Straeten

Absolutely loved this lady like a second mom growing up - my heart is with you all and remembering all of our great times at the bowling tournaments, baseball and getting caught having parties in the basement. Love you all

So very sorry to hear this news; Joy was a marvelous lady, and obviously a great Mom as you three daughters are remarkable; plus she was such a great influence on all the grandchildren. A very loving lady, very kind, and she had a great laugh. She will be missed. Mike & Brenda

It appears that I'm typing through tears once again! My memories of Ma K go back too many years to count! She is the one that taught me to love Coronation Street! I used to watch it on Sunday mornings with her (with a bit of a fuzzy head after sleeping on the hide-a-bed in the rec room) as I waited for Daryce to wake up! It took me so long to understand what they were saying but he never lost patience with me! Before the age of technology, Ma K and my mom would keep in contact via telephone while Daryce and I travelled through Europe. She always accepted those collect calls no matter what time the call (or what state we were in when we phoned!) She was my second mom and always treated me like one of her own! I always felt blessed to be part of that family and she will always hold a special place in my heart!

Greatest sympathy losing your loving mother. She was a vital part of the Burnaby Softball fans! We will be in Mexico during her memorial but will be thinking of you.
