Here's what I'd like to say about Leonard...I did not know Leonard for a long time, but that didn't seem to matter. I was blessed to meet Leonard when he became my Mom's (Shirley) hospital room mate for awhile. The minute I met him, his eyes showed kindness, and a light that can only come from a "pure" soul. Leonard and I became buddies, albeit for a short time, but a blessed one. Each day, I would ask how he was, and he would always answer in a positive way. I took enjoyment in helping him out, if he needed anything. He was a special soul, and his face would light up, daily when I visited with him. After Leonard was moved to a private room, I'd still pop in, even if he was sleeping, I'd talk with him. Something was very special about him, I can't quite put into words. On May 25, 2014 in the later evening, I spent a good hour or more with him. He said, "it's much more fun out there", as he looked out the window, spoken with a slight smile. I told him, if he just looked out there, up to the sky, and watched, he would be outside again, soon enough. Leonard was very alert at this time, and he smiled, put his hand out, and we did the Bro hand shake, before he drifted off to sleep that night. He was so peaceful, and content. On May 26, 2014 the next day, I went to look for him, but before I walked into his room, I knew he already made it "outside", I wasn't surprised, just happy for him, that he was free! Some people you meet, and have an instant connection with. Leonard was one of those special people, indeed. Leonard will no doubt in my mind, have a big set of wings now. I send out my positive thoughts and prayers, for all of Leonard's family. I miss him each day I walk past his room, but also know he is much happier now that he got his wish to be back, "outside." Until we meet again buddy, your friend, Anita (Vancouver).
