LOHIN, Pia Anne Marie
April 9, 1961 - May 9, 2014
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Pia Anne Marie Lohin at Lions Gate Hospital. She will be forever missed by her husband of 27 years, Gary, son Ryan and daughter Janelle. Predeceased by father Viljo Kaarama, she is survived by mother Eeva, brother Peter, and nephew Kristopher. Along with the many relatives she had locally, Pia also had relatives in Finland and Sweden. Pia was a shining light in all our hearts. Her infectious and positive attitude she lived life with, even after her cancer diagnosis, will be a long lasting memory and a tribute to what a courageous soul she had. Pia was a very athletic woman and enjoyed skiing, mountain biking, camping with her family, and was a huge supporter of the local craft beer community. Pia worked for many years at the Municipality of West Vancouver and loved all her co-workers during her time there. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10 a.m. at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency or Vancouver Children's Hospital.

Time passes. Was thinking and surfing about my family and found this site. Not to many of us left now (Kaarama side).

So sorry to hear of Pia's passing. I only heard recently from a very close friend that she passed earlier this year. She was an angel, a very special up beat caring soul whose eternal light shone bright whenever she was with you. I was very saddened and surprised by the news. I will always remember those early years when we were involved with Sailor Hagar's Soccer Club and the many good times we shared at the brew pub. My thoughts are with Gary and his family and it is with absolute certainty that her spirit and soul remains within each and everyone whom she touched. I will miss her... Johnno.

I was just thinking of Pia and Gary, and upon looking online was shocked to see this horrible news. My heart and thoughts go out to Gary and the family. I am at a loss.

Our hearts go out to Gary and Pias family. I met her when we were barely adults 32 years ago.. she was a kind, warm and sophisticated woman even then. We will miss her sweet nature and ever smiling face. I know that we will all be together some day... we love you Pia; Zuzana and John Gray

I worked with Pia for many years and will always remember how kind she was. We enjoyed talking about football "soccer" and the Vancouver Whitecaps, world cup etc.
Her cheerful presence and spirit will be missed at work. She stayed very positive during her illness and her loss to all is great. Rest in peace Pia.
