I first met Richard in the late 1980's when I had an issue with my Manager and escalated my concerns to Human Resources. I arrived at Head Office, a closeted woman ( double jeopardy) to meet another minority (this was a long time ago). Richard listened intently and immediately made it right for me; he was fair, concerned and decisive. I was so impressed. Richard being in a prestigious role gave me hope that I too as a minority could aspire to Something more. From him I learnt fairness and the strength to do what was right, a path I tried to live by when I became a Manager.
I had not seen Richard nor met Donato until Richard joined our Out on the Green golf league after his retirement. He always greeted us with that now iconic smile, a hug and a very real interest in what you were doing and how you were.
Donato you are surrounded with love that will last your lifetime. Our condolences to your families and friends.
Richard I understand there is only par golf in heaven. See you at the 19th hole my friend.

Donato, Allysa and Ulla,
I feel so sad for me, for you, for everyone who knew the wonderful Richard. His full smile, openness and warmth are well recognized in this guest book. We were friends since his move to Montreal (Which he found way too cold.) That was about 1981. His ability to listen, understand and then respond, question or tell you that you were off base was amazing. He gave me his ear many times and was truly a good friend. When I went back to school full time for an MBA ...totally removed from my RBC community, Richard faithfully called me every week to follow up on how I had done on various tests, exams, assignments. He was my link back to the real world. I will miss him big time. Wishing each of you the strength to go forward in this vey difficult time. Love to all

We had the good fortune to work and socialize with Richard many times throughout our careers in RBC. He was a joy to be around with an infectious laugh and a broad smile. We know he will be missed by all. Our sincerest condolences.

Dear Donato: our hearts go out to you and the whole family. Such a sweet man who always asked about Hector with that big smile and great sense of humour and compassion of his. When we think of you, we always think of seeing the two of you walking The Point with your little backpacks. Much love and sorrow, Janet and Hector.
