Heard belatedly of Sam's passing. The Lewises have been such a blessing and strength to my family, and the others they befriended on Gabriola Island. Their example will live memory. Sam's loving and wise words were a balm through many trials and triumphs of local church ministry. As the years progressed he spoke of heaven with mounting and infectious relish. I hear that voice frequently while remembering choice remarks of his, and the words are always grace-laden and impactful. They came visiting here for respite, and brought it with them. We are so grateful for the chance to know Sam. He is missed, but I am thrilled by the thought of Sam present with his Lord.
Love to all the Lewis clan.

Praise the Lord for bringing Sam Lewis into my life! My brother and mentor for more than 20 years. He enriched my life and provided all who knew him, a shining example of godliness and personal consecration in obeying the Great Commission through his missionary service, teaching, preaching and pastoring. Right through to his final illness, Sam sought to witness to those whom the Lord put in his pathway even though he was greatly hampered by blindness. I look forward to the day when we meet again. My sincerest condolences to Lilly, Gareth, Ryan and their families.

We think of Sam as a man of peace, committed to his family, his Lord and the neglected of the world. He was always a great encouragement to us from afar. You've done well Sam, time now to enjoy.
