Sending my sincerest condolences, dear Mavis, on the loss of your very best friend! You will have many memories to cherish.

Sergius was an unforgettable character with a keen sense of humour. My brother and I spent two wonderful visits with him and Mavis during which we reminisced about our memories of island life. Our father was the B.C. Provincial police officer stationed in Charlotte from about 1948-51.

Our sincere condolences to Mavis and his family.

Sergius was a living legend who was at the heart of Queen Charlotte and the surrounding communities. I remember him from when my parents, Jack (Jock) and Gwen Murdoch, lived in Skidegate and served the pastoral charge in the late 50's and early 60's. My husband and I were married there in 1958 and we visited many times. I remember visiting his mother as well.

I met Sergius in the late 1950's when I moved to the Queen Charlotte Islands with my wife. He made us feel welcome. Sergius was a great guy, and we kept contact from time to time after we left the islands in 1960. My condolences to the family.

Q: How are you, Sergius? A: What you see is what you get!

I'm richer for having known Sergius for the last 23 years.
