I shared many hundreds of hours talking with Sylvia. I met her when living on our small farm, she needed goat's milk for her puppies and I had goats. That started a long friendship. A few years later we kept our sheep in her orchard and Sylvia always told me how much she liked watching them graze. We had quite an exciting afternoon once when I saw a man running through the field across from her place as I was leaving. I thought it looked like he had a rifle in his arms. There was a police car coming down the street and I wondered if they were looking for that man. I waited for them and a few moments later they were back. I stopped the officer who was obviously aggitated that I had but when I asked him if he was looking for a man his demeanor changed. It turned out that there had been a bank robbery in Aldergrove and they were looking for the suspects and I had seen one of them and yes, he was armed. Holy Cow! I went back to tell Sylvia and locked all the doors and stayed until things settled down. What a wild afternoon. Helicopter, lots of police. They got him in the field I pointed out. What fun! Gave us something to talk about for years! Rest in Peace dear Lady.

It was always a pleasure to see your mum when we visited. She always had a happy expression and a great sense of humour. Her love of all creatures was evident in all our conversations. My heart goes out to you for your loss of such a bright star in your life. I hope you take comfort in the fact that you have inherited so much of her sterling character and gentle ways ... and huge heart! May time comfort you and may you find solace in the sweet memories of your time together.
