I have many happy memories from living next door...feeding the chickens, watching the sow and listening to stories about the cows. His home was mysterious to a child. And unique in design. It reflected his creativity and passion for order.

I was hanging out "helping" him weed the vegetable field when I was about 4. He caught a passing garter snake and convinced me it would make a nice present to my mother. He probably heard the scream. Always so good humoured and patient. He had a huge heart. I admired him immensely for how he dealt with physical and emotional setbacks all without losing his sense of humour. A great man. United with his beautiful wife now. I'll remember her for her sweet voice and face, the beautiful flowers she filled the patio with and the wonderful things she cooked. She was an elegant and gracious beauty.

My whole family will remember them and share stories every time we come together.

He was a man who built his home with his own two hands ,every door every cabinet, he layed the cement for his own walkway and drive way. He worked many years in a cement plant eventually contracting emhasemia from it . Despite it he carreid on making it all the way to 91 . He was a man in the old sense of the word . I heard a story of how his manager once gave him the gears for working overtime . So the next day at the end of the shift he and all the coworkers dropped everything where it was and left the place a disheveled mess . He came from a time where you could do a hard days work and expect a good check ,one that allowed you to own your own home and when i say own i ,mean own. He made great pie and vegetable soup and took impeccable care of his possessions. He would polish hjs shoes till they were like mirros and kept everything organized and in its place. I remember the last time i shook his hand it was firm snd solid and honest. May he rest in peace despite the many tragedies he faced he kept his spirits high and did not become bitter. Something to aspire too
