Alan Lee Hurt
Ventura, CA
On Sunday November 19, 2017, Alan Lee Hurt, husband, father and friend, passed away as a result of a traffic accident in Mexico. He was attending The Baja 1000 off-road race. Born in Los Angeles on October 16, 1948, he was raised in Bakersfield and made his home in Ventura. Alan had a passion for cars, motorcycles and adventure! By the age of 18, Alan piloted private, cargo and tow planes and spent time crop dusting in Bolivia. He studied mechanical engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He worked on offshore oil platforms for over 30 years, after which he started two successful construction companies in 2000. Many recognized him wearing his orange shirt with overalls and his genuine outgoing friendliness. Alan is survived by his wife Suzanne Hurt and his sons Adam and Kevin Hurt. He has countless step-children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit of adventure, love, and kindness will live on through the memory of his laughter and his life.
