John Philip Buck Jr. born April 1, 1927, in Xenia, Ohio passed away peacefully at home in Thousand Oaks, on July 28, 2012, at the age of 85.
John served in the US Navy and received his BS and MBA from the Ohio State University where he was a member Beta Alpha Psi International Honors Accounting Fraternity and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. John was a CPA for the State of Ohio with memberships in the American Institute of CPA's, the Ohio Society of CPAs, and the Financial Executives Institute (past President of the Dayton Chapter).
John began his career with Coopers and Lybrand, New York returning to Xenia, Ohio to work for Hooven and Allison Industries, Inc. retiring as Senior Vice President after 28 years. While at Hooven and Allison John served the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce (past President) and the Private Industry Council of Greene County (past President). He continued to work in accounting after retirement with Gans, Riddle, and Associates in Dayton, Ohio and Fitzpatrick Realty Company in Kettering, Ohio.
John has spent his last eight years in Thousand Oaks, having moved to be closer to his daughter, Catherine, and her family. He was an avid Buckeye, always rooting for his alma mater, enjoyed gardening, and supported his grandsons in all their activities.
John is survived by his daughter, Catherine (James) Eckley; grandsons, Erich, Ross and Sean Eckley, all of Thousand Oaks; niece, Susan (Rudy) LaSota; nephew, John Rudy and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Davidson Buck; sister, Jane (Buck) Rudy (Norman); parents, Olive and J. Philip Buck; and stepmother, Dorothy Buck.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date with internment at St. George's Episcopal Church Memorial Gardens in Kettering, Ohio.
A donation in John's honor may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, Ohio 45429, or to a charity of your choice in his memory.
