Mary Corinne KoepThe friends and family of Mary Corinne Koep of Simi Valley are greatly saddened by her passing on April 23, 2015. She was surrounded by family members when she peacefully died from complications of pneumonia.
Mary was born July 9, 1929 at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota, the second child of four, and the only daughter, of Bernard Oliver Narey and Evelyn Clare (Williams) Narey. She spent her formative years in the family home in Minneapolis and then St. Louis Minnesota. She attended St. Margaret's and St. Louis Park High Schools and graduated from the latter. Mary married Clifford Michael Koep of St. Cloud Minnesota at her parish church in St. Louis Park in 1949. Cliff pre-dated her in death in 2001. She will join him at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley. Together they moved the family to Southern California from Minnesota in 1954 and eventually settled in Simi Valley in 1958 where they raised their 4 loving sons. Her sons and 3 daughter-in-laws are Richard and Barbara, Steven and Teresa, Thomas and Wendy, and Robert.
Mary was active with her husband in parish functions at both St. Rose of Lima and St. Peter Claver and along with her husband in the VFW and Knights of Columbus most of their lives. For many years she was a stay at home homemaker but after 3 of her sons grew to adulthood she managed properties in the Antelope Valley and Simi Valley.
She was devoted to her family and particularly fond of her 9 grandchildren: Matthew, Theodore, Mark, John, Christopher, Nicholas, Kelly, Richard and Sarah and her 5 great grandchildren: Taylor, Jake, Michael, Kodie and Clifford (CJ)Mary's 3 brothers, Gerald, William and Lawrence Narey all died before her. However, she is survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Quinn of Camarillo, Viola Bissett and Dolores Narey who reside in Minnesota.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families spread throughout the country.
There are numerous other family members , too numerous to mention, that she held dear to her heart. She was without a doubt a shining example of family and friendship love. She was consistently happy, helpful and loving to all she met or dealt with. In recent years, she resided at Sunrise at Wood Ranch and developed many warm and close friends with the other residents and staff.

Dearest Rick, Steve, Tom and Robbie, your mom was so very special to me. She always included us in family gatherings. She always made us feel like we belonged. She was quick to laugh, she was fair and stood up for what was right. But more than that she was a dutiful daughter to God. She never forgot her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her loyalty to her family and those that passed on too soon was her gift; she kept them alive in our hearts. And so the legacy is passed down to you to carry her memory to your children. I am sure the gates of heaven were already open when she arrived. God speed Mary. Much love, Francene

Grandma your humor and kindness will be missed. You and Grandpa were incredibly influential in all of our lives and we truly appreciate everything you did to support the family. I still have fond memories of our last cruise in the restored green truck. In a moment of amazing clarity you talked about the many adventures you and Grandpa took in the big green beast. I apologize that we could not make it back to your funeral. In honor of your memory we have decided to take the truck for another great adventure by cruising the entire length of the Blue Ridge Highway in greenie over this weekend. Living a fulfilled life is not about money or position; rather it is about the loving memories, laughter, and lessons you impart on the friends and family you leave behind. Although this is a sad time to see you go it is also a joyous time because we know you are now reunited with Grandpa in heaven. You will be missed love, Mark

What a sweet, wonderful mother-in-law Mary was to me! She was always there to listen, laugh, and help. She took care of everyone so well -- Cliff, her sons, and all her grandchildren who lived nearby. And, she was loved and fondly remembered by those who lived further away. Though tiny in stature, her loving, cheerful presence will be greatly missed by us all.
