Richard Dearborn Obituary

Jan. 9, 1928- Nov. 14, 2012

Richard was the youngest of eight born in Covington, Ky., to Ernest and Jane Dearborn.

He left the family farm and joined the Navy 1945. He served in WWII on the USS Relief Hospital Ship and on the USS Topeka and USS Arcadia during the Korean War. He attended electronics school in Hawaii and during a leave he met the love of his life Beverly at a USO dance. They were married for 59 years. They married on May 31, 1950, and lived all around the country until they settled in Southern California.

Richard was a talented electronic engineer and after his service in the Navy he went to work for Hughes Aircraft in their Rader Division in Culver City.

After retirement, he and Beverly went into business for themselves in Lake Isabella. Richard loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed many back packing trips throughout the Sierra's. His most memorable trip was backpacking to green Lake with his grandsons at 78 after he lost his eyesight. He was never afraid of any challenge.

Richard was a member of Wayfarers Fillmore Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He volunteered in Rotary Club, Food Share, high school booster clubs and ran for state office on two occasions.

His favorite activity was spending time with his family and grandchildren, telling stories and talking politics.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly and his son Rickey. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Polly of Ventura, Connie Bryant of Ventura, Debbie fisher of Buellton; and son Rob Dearborn of Moorpark. He has seven grandchildren, Michelle, Mike, Robert, James, Christian, Hannah, and Sarah; and five great-grandchildren, Kayla, DJ, Timothy, Lolani, and Weston.

The family would like to thank Pastor Lanier for helping our father renew in faith in Christ and the wonderful staff at Fillmore Convalescent home.

A graveside service will be held at Santa Paul Cemetery on Tues. Nov. 20, 2012 at 11 a.m.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Charles Carroll Funeral Home. 642-8134.
