My Dad Sam Sheffield Jr. recently died. Sam was a veteran of the US Navy in World War II and served on The Floyds Bay, a sea plane tender, a fuel ship in the Pacific Ocean. Sam has impacted many lives. He was a wood-turner, photographer, artist, and art teacher. He taught art at Doherty School of the Seven Hills School. A great interest of his was advising the yearbook. In 1970, the school honored him with a membership to the Cum Laude Society for his excellence in mentoring his students in art classes and starting the school's Outdoor Program that traveled throughout the United States, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, dog-sledding, and mountain-climbing.

Ben Pavlis,

I finally have a place to be able to say that losing you was so hard, and I miss you so much each and every day. I never had a friend like you before, and I don't know if I ever will again. You were an amazing man and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. You are irreplaceable to me. Even though you are no longer with me, you will be forever in my heart. I love you my friend, and even death cannot break up our friendship.....

I went to school with Alton in 1965. My name was Norma Kellett when we were in school together. I am so sorry I did not know that he had passed away.He was one of the nicest boys I knew at Ellen Woodside. He certainly was someone to be proud of. I just wanted you to know it was a pleasure knowing him.
