Goodbye & Goodnight Ray..thank you for the rock.
September 25, 2014
Ray, you were a brilliant keyboard artist; a sweet, kind man; loving hisband to your devoted Dorothy; a wonderful, loyal friend to Jim; and... the coolest guy on the planet. I know you and Jim are rockin' out in the Great Beyond. I visited Jim at Pere Lachaise last October with my daughter, who is a 2nd generation Doors fan and lives on the Cali coast. I grew up 20 min. from Venice Beach "where it all began" (queue music!). The Doors were the GREATEST rock band of ALL time, thanks in large part to your tremendous artistry, vision and genius. "Riders on the Storm" is my favorite song and your ethereal keyboards were playing in my head when I visited Jim's grave. Everyone there felt his undeniable energy. It started to rain the very moment I put my roses on Jim's grave(after I told my daughter that morning that I hoped it would rain when we visited Jim's grave. When we walked away from his grave, the rain stopped as suddenly as it had begun and the sun's ray broke through the fog. Jim's energy is very much with us and so is yours. RIP, dear Ray. You will never be forgotten and live forever in the hearts of your devoted fans. You, Jim, Robby & John MADE HISTORY! Rock on!
