Michael Allen Computer Technician Michael Allen, 51, of Visalia passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Mike was born on October 2, 1961 in Visalia, California to Le Roy and Wanda Allen. He met his wife, Theresa (Terri) Boynton while attending College of the Sequoias during the spring semester of 1981. They were married on June 18,1983 at the Visalia United Methodist Church. Mike worked 2 jobs and attended college classes, to support the couple while she earned her Pharm.D. degree at University of the Pacific, and then for one year in Orange County while she completed a Pharmacy Residency program at UC Irvine Medical Center. The couple then returned to the San Joaquin valley to be nearer to family. Mike was a "Stay-at-Home Dad" for over 4 years (long before it was popular to do so!), but decided to return to the workforce after the birth of their third son, and pursue his TRUE area of interest, which was computers. He started out with Mind Information Systems, later merging with what is now Valley Expectech Computers. Mike was an avid sports fan all his life, playing in various sports from a young age, but baseball was always his true passion. He played until a serious shoulder injury in his COS years put him on the sidelines. This year's World Series was especially joyful for him, since his beloved San Francisco Giants won the championship. In recent years he participated in several Fantasy Football and Baseball leagues, and was a frequent Online gamer. He made many great online friends in the past few years. He was an very talented scrapbooker, due to his love of photography as well as being outdoors with his family. His friendly, outgoing manner made him a natural "teacher", and he always took the time for anyone who requested his help with their various scrapbooking, computer, or photography-related problems. Mike is survived by his wife of 29 years, Terri Allen, his mother, Wanda Allen, and his 3 sons: Tyler Allen (19), Joshua Allen (15), and Brandon Allen (14), all of Visalia. He is also survived by a brother, David W. Allen, and a sister, Sabrina Allen, both of Visalia. He was loved by 6 nieces and nephews: Matthew, Benjamin, and Clarissa Allen; Mark and Cameron Nosler, all of Visalia, and Donnie Kyle, of Fresno, CA. Being a lifelong animal lover, Mike also leaves behind with his family 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 turtles, and several exotic fish. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 21, at the Pavilion at the Visalia District Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. A potluck reception will follow at the Visalia Veterans Hall, 609 W. Center St., in Visalia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or charity of donor's choice. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected]

Mike -
I have great memories of our youth...always fun playing basketball at Fairview in Birdland. The short rims really elevated our games! Rest in peace my friend. I'm sure there are no Dodgers where you are going!

Mike and i were best friends growing up in Birdland. We used to "spend the night" at each other's house all the time playing nerf baseball and trading baseball cards, and messing with his little brother, David. My thoughts and prayers are with Wanda, Terri, and the rest of the Allen family at this time. RIP Mike...

Michael was indeed a sports fan, I've known him all my life, like a big brother. I don't think I've ever seen mike without a smile on his face, and even though he was always extremely busy, he would always make time for people, if they asked for help. I'm deeply saddened by this loss.
