He was the Chaplin of Disneyland and one of the greatest live stage entertainers of the 20th century.

I visited Disneyland for the first time back in 1977 or so. It was hot and sunny, and I wandered by the Golden Horseshoe with two friends, and saw that a show was about to start. As I recall, it was a full house but we were told to wait for a moment. Suddenly we were ushered into the theatre and right into the stage-left box seats. It felt a bit embarrassing to be sitting right there on the stage. I felt even more embarrassed when Wally starting popping seeds from his mouth, aiming them directly at us! I still can't explain why it was so hilarious, but it was an afternoon I will never forget. When I tell people about Wally, I always have to explain that it might not sound funny when I explain what Wally did, but we were all (the whole audience as well as myself and my two friends) roaring with laughter! It was magical! I am so glad that I got the chance to meet him and shake his hand when he made an appearance at the Egyptian Theatre a few years ago...Memories like these are treasures.

I remember seeing Wally play Peco Bill at Disneyland one summer when I was young. He had such great stage presence and comic timing. I remember laughing hard when he spit out his "teeth." The gag, one of many, had the audience in stitches. Years later, I had the honor of becoming friends with his daughter, Heather. One day while I was visited her, Wally came by. Despite my knowing he was famous, he was very humble and kind in person to me. Thanks for the memories, Wally. My sincere condolences to your family.
