On Wednesday, May 28, 2014, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Kathleen M. Brown Raptakes and the late Stella G. Raptakes; father of Aspasia Lappin (Joe), Tina VanDevander (Mike) and Nicole Raptakes Pole (Brad); grandfather of Nicholas, Declan, Daegan, Riley, Seamus, Rebecca, Cara, Fiona, Finn, Olivia, Emerson and Jacob; brother of Steve Raptakis; step-father of John H. Brown (Diane) and Jennifer McCartin (Douglas). Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. (with Trisayion prayer service at 7:30 p.m.). Funeral Service at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 36th St. & Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC, on Monday, June 2 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. My sympathies to your families in losing such a wonderful,loving &sweet man.I knew Al as a neighbor, being that I and April used to babysit Aspasia & Tina (before Nicole was born)He always treated me like I was part of the family. Such a kind hearted loving man. He was there for me when I lost both of my parents. May God give you strength and love during this period of mourning. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
