BARBARA ANNE HEALY (Age 85)
Of Silver Spring, MD passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015. Barbara is survived by James A. Healy, her beloved husband of 62 years; her six children, Susan Marie Healy, Stephen James Healy (Gail), Thomas Joseph Healy (Vicki), Kathleen Ann Healy, William John Healy, and Maureen Elaine Thompson (Mark); and her nine grandchildren, Eric Healy, Jacqueline Healy, Danielle Healy Verderame (Andrew), Kevin Healy, Claire Healy, Brenna Healy, Samuel Thompson, Matthew Thompson and Rachael Thompson. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), on Tuesday, April 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Shrine of St. Jude, 12701 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD, on Wednesday, April 15 at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Dear Uncle Jim and dear cousins,
Mary Rose and I are deeply saddened to learn of Aunt Barbara's passing. I have so many memories of her from the time I was little. It is a small thing, but I always loved the sound of her voice. It was special, distinct, clear and a combination of New England and Maryland charm. We will have a Mass said for Aunt Barbara at St. Bernadette's Church here in Randolph, Mass. I feel bad that my health will prevent me from traveling to MD for the funeral. Jim and Bob have always been my favorite uncles and role models. In fact, I like the name Healy more than Carew. All the Healys are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May Aunt Barbara intercede for all of us. What a marvelous legacy - 62 years of a beautiful Catholic marriage. A great witness, too!

My deepest sympathy to you, Jim, and to all of your family. I am out of town until May 1, so I will be unable to attend Barbara's wake and funeral. Barbara made a baby blue afghan for which I was the high bidder at a St. Jude School auction a few years ago, and it has become my grandson's "go to" blankie. When I retired from St, Jude's two years ago, Barbara made an afghan for me in the same pattern. I use it and I cherish it as a beautiful gift from a beautiful woman. God rest her soul.
