BARRY GROSS Obituary
On Friday, June 6, 2014 of Rockville, MD. Chaplain and teacher of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School for the past 29 years. Beloved son of the late Jeanne H. and Vernon C. Gross, Sr.; brother of Vernon C. (Kathleen) Gross, Jr. and Frances (Charles) Bingham; uncle of Christopher, Jennifer, and Diana. Also survived by nine great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Kane Center, 17301 Old Vic Boulevard, Olney, MD 20832 on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. with prayer service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Avenue, Lititz, PA on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Performing Arts Center (checks made payable to OLGCHS).

Father Barry was Pat's boss when she worked for Catholic Charities and has been a friend every since. We cannot count the kindnesses and prayers that he unselfishly gave to our family over the years. We have lost a dear friend who was a joy to know. May God hold you in the palm of his hands and may you rest in peace, Barry.

I was a classmate of Barry at Lancaster Catholic High, years 1960 thru 1964. Barry and I worked on the business staff of The Rosmarian. Haven't seen him for ages but I remember him as lots of fun, full of energy and just a great guy. I am saddened by his death.I know he touched many lives. My prayers go out to his family.

As principal of OLGCHS from 1993-1997,I had the opportunity to work closely with Fr.Gross and am saddened at his passing.Barry was a counselor to many staff as well as students and could be counted on for making time to listen and advise.He always focused our attention on the need for each of us to work for peace and justice May he rest in peace himself!
