BEATRICE DONNELLAN Obituary

BEATRICE DONNELLAN (Age 83)
Of Beltsville, MD, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Denis Donnellan and a wonderful mother to her daughter Joann. Beatrice was born in Tyrone, Pennsylvania in 1930. She graduated from Tyrone High School in 1949 where she was once voted the "sweetest" person in the school. Beatrice then went on to accomplish her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia in 1952. She relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1953 and began her nursing career at George Washington Hospital. In later years, Beatrice worked with her husband at his dental practice in Hyattsville, MD. A life-long lover of animals, she also bred and showed Shetland sheepdogs. Beatrice will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her sister Evelyn Stever and her brother-in-law George, sister-in-law Sister Catherine de Ricci, O.P. and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Delzie Passarelli and Anthony Richard Simparosa as well as her sister Joann. For the past 17 years, Beatrice had endured dementia with a generosity of spirit and great appreciation of those who cared for her. Relatives and friends may call at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 11011 Montgomery Road, Beltsville, MD, on Saturday, October 4, from 11 to 12 p.m., where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Johns Hopkins University Memory and Alzheimer's Treatment Center, and mailed to The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 550 Broadway, Suite 914, Baltimore, MD 21205.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

Joann, your mother sounds like she was a wonderful woman. She would have to have been to have raised an extraordinary daughter like you. Savor the memories of the good times and know that she is now at peace. Hugs and love to you and yours!

I graduated from high school with "Bea". She was one of my dearest friends and we spent many hours together. I knew and loved her entire family, i.e. mother, dad, siblings, but never had the privilege of meeting Denis & Joann. This picture brought back many memories. Thank you, Denis & Joann for being such wonderful caregivers.
