I will never forgot the time we serviced together under the 22d CM BN. I have never forgotten the kindness you distilled and leadership you gave. I have spent the last three years trying to the best leader I can, just like you. During our trip to Jordan you made sure that I reenlisted properly on USS Gunston Hall. You let me use your flag that you carried with you everywhere we went to reenlist with. I will never forget that after we came back from Jordan a few weeks later you tracked me down when I was getting gas outside of Edgewood and you came running up to me and gave that flag to me. I have carried that flag with me ever since. I cannot thank you enough Dan. I regret everyday that I could not attend your funeral and that I could not give that flag to your sons. I miss you every single day, you were the most important mentor I had while serving. You are dearly missed my friend rest peacefully.

I was his roommate when he was an enlisted soldier in my home country, S. Korea (2000-2001). We talked a lot and definitely had a good time. He was taking some classes at that time, and we also studied together in our room. He was my best roommate.

I moved to DC area recently, and I remembered he is originally from here, and I looked him up and found that he has passed away.

I have no words to express how deeply sorry I am to hear about your loss. However, I will keep the good memory with him.

RIP, Daniel.

My heart is heavy and I am in tears as I try to absorb the news of Daniel's untimely passing. During my 20 years as an administrator at Wakefield High School, many students touched me but none more so than Daniel Johnson. I was Director of Counseling during his time at Wakefield and Daniel's counselor, Dr. Amy Shilo, introduced him to me. Daniel was witty, personable, handsome and smart and had no idea of his potential. He was shy and insecure and Dr. Shilo and I went to work on him, boosting his self-esteem and encouraging him to apply for top scholarships. He ended up receiving the prestigious Carl Rowan Scholarship. It was rewarding watching Daniel blossom and come into his own. He was one of those special students who stay in your heart forever. He will always be one of my "special" kids. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children and to his mom. Be strong. Daniel will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Gone to soon. I am truly saddened by Johnson's death. Johnson was more than just a friend; he was an amazing person. I remembered being station with Johnson, he was always so kind and considerate to us that we always welcomed seeing him at every opportunity.
