DANIEL L. O'CONNOR, III (Age 72)
On Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home in The Villages, FL, and longtime resident of Washington DC. Beloved father of Elizabeth K. O'Connor and the late Margaret C. Whipple; grandfather of Liam Whipple; brother of Martin M. O'Connor and the late Patricia A. O'Connor. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Western Ave. and Quesada St. NW, Washington, DC on Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. with the family receiving friends starting at 10 a.m. Interment is private. I was a friend of Dan's at Spring Hill College. We missed him at our 50th college reunion last week. Being a librarian and a bit of an amateur detective, I wanted to know where Dan was after all these years. To my sorrow, I found this obituary; in the photo, Dan is surely the tall boy on the right. Please know that we all were thinking fondly of Dan over the weekend of April 4 to 6 in Mobile.

Marty and family, I was so very sorry to hear about Dan's passing. Thanks to Dan, you, Dick and others I had a wonderful 20 years at FGI/Rushmore!! Those early 80's were so exciting and when Dan would come around with a little bonus if you made it in on snow days, or extra busy days. Sure different then my nursing years. Betty and I were so sad to see Danny's obituary and know how life changing it is to lose a brother (Chuck died in 2010). Your parents were very good to us when our father died in 1963, and we have many memories of holidays at your home and at the river (our mothers would relate stories about Patricia, Fr. Marty, your aunt and grandmother). I have included a picture of Danny, Betty, you and me, taken oh-so-many-years ago.

I worked for Dan for 6 years at Fund for Government Investors. He was a very good boss and I enjoyed working for him. My deepest sympathy to Marty and the entire O'Connor family. Dan will be missed.
