Dearest Dottie and Family,
I remember taking classes at Dillard University in 1960 with your beloved husband in English studies. He had returned from London where he had studied and was impressive in literary contributions to our class.
When I came to Washington in the early sixties I connected with the alumni from Dillard. It is with sadness I have learned from Charline of the passing of Donald and Franklin Hodges in a matter of several days.
Thank you for sharing your rich and blessed lives with our community in the Washington setting. We have lived to see our President Barack Obama serve for two elections. Your husband and you were seated at the table with my daughter Robin and I at the last time I attended the annual Dillard Brunch at the Navy yard. I have those pictures of your family members. You shared details of your South African trip and inspired us with your travels and exposure after the Mandela homeland activities.
We wish we could be with you but health concerns prevent us from travel at this time. God keep you in his care and we have great memories of happy days. My love to you and your blessed family.
