DORIS IRENE MANDEL (Age 78)  
Of Fairfax County, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Virginia Hospital Center. Ms. Mandel retired in 2001 from Giant Food where she had been the bakery manager for 28 years. Survivors include her children James Mandel (Starre), Thomas Mandel (Diane) and Nancy Mandel and her beloved Gracie; grandchildren Heather McColgan (Dennis), Lauren Lopez (Rich), Jason Morabito, Alexa Carpenter (Tony) and Mallory, Kyle and Josie Mandel; sisters Julia Phillips, Laura Emery, Iris Rapp, Joyce Larson and Alice Rowles; brothers Edward, Franklin, Charles, Ralph, Allen and Gene Chewning; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Granville and Cathleen Chewning; and brothers Clyde and William Chewning. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
