Dear Fr. Evans, you have been in glory, now, for seven years, after a lifetime of closeness to, and service for, Our Lord. May perpetual light continue to shine upon you...we ask your intercession for us and for all that we pray for, as we did while you were on earth...we know that your "shepherd's heart" will continue to intercede for all who ask for your prayers...we are grateful to God for your life and for your ministry as a priest, counselor, and confessor...may God's best blessings be upon you...forever...

Six years on and remembering the anniversary of the passing of Fr. Evans (RIP)...came across a poem written by a Dominican priest, Fr. J.-B. Henri Lacordaire in the 1800s, that, I think, captured Fr. Evans and his ministry--his true "shepherd's care" for the Body of Christ: "A Priest." Here are some excerpts from this still timely poem: "To live in the midst of the world without wishing its pleasures; to heal all wounds; to go from men to God and offer Him their prayers. To return from God to men, to bring pardon and hope...To teach and to pardon, console and bless always. My God, what a life and it is yours, O Priest of Jesus Christ." Fr. Evans lived this. May his intercession before the throne of God continue for the Body of Christ always...eternal rest grant unto to him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him...

I was a classmate of Ed from Pope John 23rd Seminary class of 1980.
Enjoyed being with him, especially his dry wit and impish smile, and two kinds of "intelligence ", if you know what I mean
Met his sister Mary in Switzerland and enjoyed her and her family's hospitality.
May he rest in peace.

Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Silver Spring, MD is the site of a family plot, and that of the plots of so many friends, too, so I have the privilege, living locally, of visiting these sites and honoring the memory of those interred there. Fr. Evans's site, and those of so many other priests of the Archdiocese of Washington, who have made such a difference in the lives of so many--myself and our family included--always are stops on my cemetery visits. Fr. Evans was one of the best counselors and confessors that I have encountered on my spiritual journey, and I am eternally grateful for the times in which, through his priestly ministry, I was able to experience healing and restoration...and, of course, I am not alone. Thinking of him, with gratitude, at this time of year...may God's choicest blessings be his, eternally...Father, you are "a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek."

Remembering Fr. Evans, four years after his entrance into heaven...the wisdom and understanding that he shared, as priest and counselor, will not be forgotten...in gratitude for his life and for his ministry and rejoicing that he is with the Savior Whom he loved and served so well forever...

Although not in frequent contact, Fr. Ed was often in my thoughts. I just learned of his passing. I worked with him nearly 50 years ago and he officiated at our daughter's wedding in 1989. He will be missed by so many! My sincere condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear of Fr. Ed's passing. I worked for him nearly 50 years ago and he officiated at our daughter's wedding nearly 30 years ago. Not much contact in past years but he was always on my mind. Truly a wonderful person!

Dear Fr. Evans, Thank you, eternally, for your prayers and guidance as spiritual counselor and confessor, for both myself and beloved sister, Marilyn Spillane Paganin, (RIP). Truly, you were the kindly and good shepherd who led his flock, gently, yet firmly, and always with great love. The best of God, Our Loving Father's, blessings be yours: "You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek."

Dear Fr. Ed, You are remembered as a true gentle and devout priest. You shared that your neurosurgeon father started each with blessing himself. Then said," Strengthen me in your service. Jesus I give you my day."Thank you for saying Yes to Our Lord. I pray and trust You are now in His heart. Remembering you in His love.
