Ms. Hope, this is a long time coming, not for lack of love or thought, more from facing the reality of a true icon slipping away. I was always there, in the background of your life...you and your family were my family; the compass that wasn´t in the drawer in my own house.
I will always remember...always...with love...your convertible cars, your clean dining room table where we played cards and drank tea. The Christmas presents your family patiently opened over the ENTIRE holiday season. The organ Eleanor played...the bellowing voice your husband sounded over the intercom, telling Debbie to bring him a bologna sandwich...the family members you ALWAYS had in your house...Aunt Mary who taught Debbie and me how to embroider, Uncle Willy who was always cooking; your brother Alvin, who walked everywhere; your brother Jake, and his kids up the street..,I learned about extended family from your family. Your son Benny was one of the kindest men to walk the earth, and you were one of the wisest women I have ever known. I loved watching you sign with your mom as a child, and referenced you often later, as a teacher. I remember you always calling me, Miss Kathy, with a smile, and not being afraid to tell me "what´s what." I loved you, Ms. Hope; I admired you, and I respected you. You were a role model, a good person, and a friend to my mom and to me. I am blessed to have known you and yours. I thank you for everything you did for me, gave to me, and want you to know I am grateful to God that you were in my life. I know you said that as time goes by, "you start to miss the old people that have passed." I hope you are playing cards now, with your old friends and loved ones, and having fun. You were always a bright light in my life. Thank you.
With Love,
Kathy

Ms Hope....I'm going to miss you so much. We became so close in such a short period of time. You helped me through some rough times and made my days better every time I came to see you. Rest peacefully

I know you are happy to be of free from pain. Your absence will be forever very difficult for us and the rest of your family, especially our grandchildren. Tell Benny hello for us!

Bon Voyage dear, kind lady. Mother Grandmother friend. I still feel your hands on my face as we shared a kiss at our last meal before I left. I am glad to have told you I love you at that moment. I will always remember your reply.
